1994 John A. Ball

REASON FOR AWARD

John Ball earned the award for his service to the community. He gave his time for both the young and old as he was very active on the Stamford Middle School Council and was on the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Business for Education Coalition as well as leading a campaign to raise $750,000 to for Smith House, Stamford’s home for the elderly. It was the home’s first campaign and was a great success due to Ball’s leadership.

BIOGRAPHY

John Ball was the Senior Vice President of Public Affairs at Champion International Corp. and worker for the company for over 40 years. He resided in Darien but qualified for the Stamford Citizen of the Year for his outstanding service to the Stamford community.
